A Great Pudding: Apple Crumble
The next thing you have to concern yourselves with is what to have on your crumble, Ice cream or custard. I've been brought up on Bird's custard from a tub but I have recently discovered the world of Ambrosia cream custard! Amazing!
Apple crumble is quite an old recipe. It was first created back in the 4o's during the second world war. Due to the rationing back then things like fats, flours and sugars were limited and there wasn't enough to make full pies so people did the best with what they had and made delicious crumbles.
Anyway, back to me and the food I love. There are many different type of crumble out there, Rhubarb crumble, Raspberry and Pear crumble. There is always the issue of what sugary goodness to have with it.
I find that vanilla ice cream is great with Rhubarb crumble but the crumble has to be really quite hot. If you let it cool down too much you won't get the tasty melted ice cream mixed in with the rhubarb. I still haven't understood why you get that film on your teeth after eating rhubarb. Maybe it was just because it was out of mums garden!?
So, that's the story of apple crumble. I hope you have learnt something new - who would have thought desserts could be so interesting. If you would like to view a lovely apple crumble recipe follow the link below.
